Produced in small batches by Proof and Wood, this rendition of Tumblin’ Dice is distilled in the old Seagram’s distilling plant based in Lawrenceburg, IN (now known as MGP)… and then bottled in Kentucky after spending a minimum of 5 years in new American Oak casks.
It contains a heavy Rye mashbill: 36% Rye, 60% Corn, 4% Barley and recently won Best Single Barrel, Non-Kentucky Bourbon at the World Whiskies Awards.
So, what’s it taste like and is it worth rolling the dice to buy a bottle?
Tumblin’ Dice 5 Year Barrel Proof Tasting Notes:
Age: 5
Proof: 118.96
Color: Dark Amber
Nose: Caramelized brown sugar with a whiff of clove spice.
Palate: Chocolate covered toffee, slight hint of a banana lightly rolled in cinnamon.
Finish: A whole lotta heat here, but not the kind that burns your esophagus on the way down. It seems to linger on the roof of your mouth instead, providing wave after wave of flavor as it slowly dies off.
